The gateway to La Monumental's sunlit arena, Barcelona's last great bullring. The red door bears the evidence of every entrance — horn strikes traced across the paint in flame-like patterns, each scar a record of something that passed through here.

Life for Scars(2024)

This photograph was taken deep inside La Monumental, a former bullfighting arena in the heart of Barcelona. The proud Catalan capital has long set itself apart from traditional Spanish customs, and it was one of the first major cities to abandon bullfighting. The red door leading into the arena still bears the marks of bulls’ horns, left behind as they charged toward the light. Standing there, you can still sense the immense force and intensity that once filled this place.

A derelict graffiti-covered room on the Marin Headlands, its far wall open to an unobstructed view of the Pacific. The coloured murals and broken concrete frame the ocean - a room that has become a viewfinder.

Room with a View(2015)

Marin Headlands, California

Just north of San Francisco, after crossing the Golden Gate Bridge and climbing the steep hills of the Marin Headlands, you come across several abandoned buildings once used by the US military. This particular bunker sits only a few meters from a dramatic cliff overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Despite its proximity to the city, the place feels surprisingly quiet and removed from the present day. For me, the photograph captures the quiet magic of a unique vantage point where landscape, light, and history briefly meet.
